Our Practical Nursing Diploma Program is approved by the Kansas State Board of Nursing (KSBN) located at 900 SW Jackson Street Suite 1051 Topeka, Kansas 66612-1230. Telephone Main: 785-296-4929
The Practical Nursing (PN) program is designed to prepare students to care for diverse individuals and families consistent with the Kansas Board of Nursing LPN scope of practice. Graduates will be prepared to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-PN) and care for patients in a variety of structured inpatient and community-based settings.
The Practical Nursing program is based upon the Kansas Board of Regents and Kansas State Board of Nursing regulations and emphasizes the use of appropriate clinical judgment in the role of the Licensed Practical Nurse. The 43 credit-hour curricula will be taught in four 10-week Modules (terms) for a total of 885 clock hours and will include hands-on, active learning in class and clinical experiences appropriate for practice in today’s health care environment.
Students will have the opportunity to choose a day, evening, or weekend cohort. Special emphasis will be placed on “soft skills” which allow graduates to not only meet patients’ psychosocial needs but also work effectively as a member of the health care team. Additionally, Students will be grounded with a solid understanding of the fundamentals of nursing with evaluation using HESI -A2 at the end of each module. Our Practical Nursing program includes IV Therapy skills! No need to look for IV certification after graduation!
An applied learning approach to the LPN curriculum shall be threaded throughout each module to help students further develop the tactile and critical thinking skills necessary to assist with diagnostic procedures and facilitate the examination and treatment of patients/residents.
Our faculty will prepare the students to sit for the National Council Licensing Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN). The student who passes the NCLEX-PN becomes a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and is qualified to work as an entry-level licensed practical nurse.
We are committed to the success of our students and our unique approach to education puts students at ease to ensure they are fully engaged in the learning process and prepares students with practical knowledge, skills, and abilities to exceed the expectations of future employers of our PN students. Faculty spends time with students to facilitate understanding of the relevant content and its application in the care of patients. Additionally, a strong, formal remediation process is planned for the PN program to prepare students for the rigors of licensure and the health care environment.
